3 dead, 43 wounded in Chicago weekend shootings

CHICAGO (CBS) — At least three people were killed and 43 others were hurt in Chicago weekend shootings as of Sunday, according to Chicago police.

The ages of the victims range from 15 to 75.

In the first shooting of the weekend, a woman, 30, was standing outside just after 8:30 p.m. in the 9600 block of South Greenwood Avenue when she was struck in her legs in a drive-by shooting.

She was taken to Trinity Hospital, where she was listed in serious condition.

Friday

  • At 9:20 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was walking on the sidewalk in the 7500 block of South Damen Avenue when he was approached by two unknown people who shot him. He was struck in the heel. The boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was initially reported in good condition. 

Saturday 

  • At 12:23 a.m. in the 2000 block of North Hamlin Avenue, a man, 24, was approached by three unidentified male offenders. One of the offenders pulled out a firearm and shot at the victim. The victim fled the scene and also had a grazed wound in his foot. The victim refused treatment.     
  • At 12:33 a.m. in the 5000 block of West Madison Street, a man, 33, was shot in his thigh while traveling in a vehicle and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. A second man, 43, who was standing nearby, was shot in the face and was taken to Loretto Hospital in critical condition. A third man, 51, was also standing outside and was struck by gunfire in the torso and leg. He was taken to Mt. Sinai in serious condition. Preliminary investigation indicates that multiple males exited a white sedan and began shooting at a vehicle.
  • At 12:44 a.m. in the 1400 block of West 115th Street, a man, 47, was approached by an unknown male who pulled a firearm and shot the victim in his leg. The victim was taken to Christ Hospital in good condition.     
  • At 1:05 a.m. in the 3100 block of West Madison Street, a man, 49, was standing outside when he was hit multiple times in the lower part of the body by gunfire. The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai in good condition. Preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was shot at by an offender traveling in a black vehicle.
  •  At 2:28 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Harding Avenue, officers responded to a person shot and found a male victim in an alley with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai in critical condition.
  • At 1:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of East 95th Street, Chicago police officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and found a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshots near the sidewalk. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was initially listed in critical condition. 
  • At 4:11 p.m. in the 5700 block of Augusta Boulevard, a 43-year-old man was standing near the sidewalk when he was approached by an unknown man who shot him once in the leg and once in the buttocks. The shooter then took the victim's bicycle and fled the scene. The victim was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was initially listed in fair condition. 
  • At 5:47 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Elizabeth, two men, 38 and 42, were approached by at least one unknown person who started shooting. The 38-year-old victim was struck in the stomach and the leg and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. The 43-year-old victim was struck in the hand and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
  • At 6:52 p.m. in the 900 block of West 115th Street, a 15-year-old boy was near the street when he was approached by an unknown vehicle, and multiple people inside started shooting. The victim was stuck in the side and then went to Roseland Hospital, where he was initially reported in good condition. 
  • At 8:05 p.m. in the 2300 block of South Sacramento, a 75-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman were standing outside when they were shot. The man suffered a graze wound to the foot, and the woman was shot in the ankle. Both victims were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where they were listed in good condition. The victims were unable to provide details of the incident. 
  • At 8:11 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Laramie, a 33-year-old man was standing outside when an unidentified man got out of a black sedan and started shooting at the victim. The victim was shot twice in the chest and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 
  • At 6:07 p.m. in the 4800 block of South Winchester, two teens were near the front of a home when an unknown vehicle drove by and someone inside shot them. The 15-year-old was struck in the abdomen. The 17-year-old was struck in the arm and armpit area. Both were transported to Comer Children's Hospital in critical condition, but both later died. 
  • At 8:30 p.m. in the 10-100 block of South Springfield Avenue, three people were standing outside when an unknown offender fired shots in their direction, striking the victims. A 29-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the left foot; he was listed in good condition and self-transported to Mt. Sinai. A 31-year-old man was shot in the chest and forearm and was driven to Stroger in critical condition. A 50-year-old woman was also struck by the gunfire and sustained a gunshot wound to the left leg. She was taken by fire officials to Stroger Hospital in good condition. The victims could not provide any offender details.
  • At 10:50 p.m. in the 3100 block of West Madison Street, a 31-year-old woman was exiting her vehicle when she heard gunshots and felt pain in her feet. The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the feet and was taken by fire crews to Stroger Hospital in good condition.
  • At 10:53 p.m. in the 400 block of North Harding Avenue, a witness related to police an unidentified man, possibly 30 years of age, walked up to them and collapsed with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was transported by the CFD to Stroger Hospital and is listed in critical condition. 

Sunday

  • At 12:18 a.m. in the 1500 block of West 111th Street, officers responded to U of C Hospital, where a 19-year-old man was in good condition after being shot in the left ankle. The victim stated he was lying inside a vehicle at a gas station when he heard shots and felt pain. He realized he was shot and was taken by a vehicle to the hospital. The victim was unable to provide any further details. Officers also responded to Trinity Hospital, where a 21-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg. The victim was uncooperative but stated he was at a gas station on 111th Street when he was shot by an unknown offender. He was in good condition at Trinity.     
  • At 1:30 a.m. in the 3600 block of North Pulaski Road, a 20-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle when a Jeep Cherokee pulled up and fired shots, striking the victim in the left arm. The Jeep then fled the scene southbound. Fire crews arrived on the scene to treat the victim and transport him to Illinois Masonic Hospital in good condition.  
  • At 1:51 a.m. in the 3200 block of West Cermak Road, an unidentified 25-30-year-old man was at a gas station when an unknown vehicle drove up and fired shots at the victim, striking him multiple times about the body. The victim was treated on scene by the CFD and transported to Mt. Sinai in critical condition. 
  • At 1:42 a.m. in the 500 block of North Lawler Avenue, a 24-year-old woman was outside when she was struck by gunfire. The victim was shot in the leg and thigh and was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition. The victim was unable to provide further details of the incident.
  • At 3:01 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Canal Street, a group of men were standing outside when an argument turned into a fight with another group of unknown men, and shots were fired. A 39-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene. A 34-year-old man was taken to Stroger in fair condition with gunshot wounds to the leg. A 21-year-old man self-transported to Stroger with a gunshot wound to the left calf and is listed in good condition. A 27-year-old man self-transported to Stroger in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds to the body. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation by Area 1 detectives.
  • At 5:06 a.m. in the 5100 block of South Calumet Avenue, five men self-transported to The University of Chicago Medical Center with gunshot wounds. A 25-year-old man in good condition with gunshot wounds to the lower extremities. A 24-year-old man in good condition with a gunshot wound to the back. A 32-year-old man in good condition with a graze wound to the right arm. A 26-year-old man in good condition with a gunshot wound to the chin. A 26-year-old man in good condition with a gunshot wound to the thumb. The victims are not cooperating with police officers.
  • At 7:31 a.m. in the 4300 block of South Hermitage Avenue, a 61-year-old man was working when he heard shots and felt pain. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the right leg. 
  • At 8:24 a.m. in the 200 block of East 47th Street, a 42-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds about the body after an argument with an unknown offender turned into a fight. The victim is at the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.     
  • At 12:01 p.m. in the 2000 block of West 54th Street, a 25-year-old man received a graze wound after being shot at. The victim refused treatment and did not cooperate with the police.
  • At 2:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Harding, a 36-year-old man and a 44-year-old man were traveling in a vehicle when an unknown vehicle pulled up alongside them. Someone inside the vehicle shot at both victims, striking the 36-year-old mulitple times and the 44-year-old once in each shoulder. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. 
  • At 7:18 p.m., in the 1700 block of West 47th Street, a 36-year-old man was walking when someone shot him in the lower back. He was dropped off at Holy Cross Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
  • At 8:38 p.m. in the 3500 block of West Roosevelt, a 50-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when an unidentified person driving a motorized bike shot him twice in the abdomen. The victim self-transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in serious condition. 
  • At 8:13 p.m. in the 3800 block of West North Avenue, Chicago police officers responded to Ascension Saint Mary for a call of a person shot. The victim said he was standing on the street when he was shot in the right leg and buttock, but he did not provide any further details regarding the incident.
  • At 11:44 p.m., a 15-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 600 block of East 47th Street, when someone shot him in the right forearm. The victim was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in good condition.

Monday

  • At 1:49 a.m., in the 1000 block of North Spaulding, an 18-year-old man was a passenger in a car, when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside started shooting. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the lower back.
  • At 2:25 a.m., in the 5200 block of South Princeton, a group of people was hanging out in an empty lot, when a truck drove past, and someone inside started shooting. A 24-year-old man was shot in the right cheek, and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. A 21-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the back, and refused medical attention. A 24-year-old man suffered a graze wound above the right eye, and refused medical attention.


Unless otherwise noted, no arrests have been made in any of these shootings.
