2 killed, 16 injured in weekend shootings across Chicago
CHICAGO (CBS) -- At least two people were killed and 16 were hurt in weekend shootings across Chicago, according to the Chicago Police Department. Their ages range from 14 to 39.
Friday
- At 10:37 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Kildare, a 17-year-old girl was a passenger in a vehicle when an unknown person shot her. She was struck in the back and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
Saturday
- At 3 a.m. in the 5700 block of South Wabash Avenue, a 24-year-old man was inside an apartment in an argument with another man when he was shot in the lower back. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. The suspected shooter was arrested, and a handgun was recovered, police say.
- At 7:39 p.m. in the 6100 block of West Dickens, a group of people was standing when someone in a dark-colored sedan fired shots. A 14-year-old boy suffered a graze wound to the right foot and was transported to West Suburban Hospital in fair condition. A 19-year-old girl was shot in the left arm and was transferred to Loyola University Medical Center in fair condition.
- At 9:30 p.m. in the 5300 block of South California, a 32-year-old man was riding a scooter on the street when someone inside a dark-colored sedan started shooting. The victim was shot in the right foot and transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.
- At 8:45 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Central Avenue, a 24-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle when someone in a green-colored SUV fired shots. He was driven to West Suburban Hospital and later transferred to Stroger in good condition with a gunshot wound to the back.
- At 11:55 p.m. in the 2400 block of East 78th Street, two men were shot while standing near a residence. A 31-year-old man was taken by the Chicago Fire Department to U of C in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg. Another male adult walked into U of C in an unknown condition with a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
Sunday
- At 12:40 a.m. in the 3700 block of West Iowa Street, a 30-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk with another male when an occupant in a van fired shots. The victim was taken by CFD to Mt. Sinai in fair condition with a graze wound to the neck.
- At 1:37 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Melvina Avenue, a 27-year-old man was sitting in a parked vehicle when an unknown male approached on foot and fired shots. The victim walked into West Suburban Hospital and is listed in good condition with gunshot wounds to the left arm and right hand.
- At 3:17 a.m. in the 2000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, a 28-year-old man was discovered in the parking lot of a store with gunshot wounds to the body. The victim was taken by CFD to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
- At 5:47 a.m. in the 7900 block of South Ashland Avenue, a 29-year-old man was arguing with another male, who pulled out a firearm and shot the victim. He was shot in the back and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
- At 3:05 p.m. in the 6100 block of South Peoria, a 17-year-old boy was outside when he was shot in the forearm. He was transproted to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition.
- At 5:25 p.m. in the 2000 block of East 82nd Street, a 21-year-old woman was inside a vehicle when she was appraoched by a "known offender" who started shooting. The victim was struck in the arm and self-transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.
- At 7:38 p.m. in the 6700 block of South Damen, a man, 39, was near a parking lot when three unknown people approached. One shot the victim in the abdomen. The victim was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in good condition.
- At 10:55 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Burley, police responding to a report of a person shot found a 33-year-old man who had been shot multiple times in the torso. The victim was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
- At 11:59 p.m. in the 7700 block of South South Shore Drive, a 26-year-old woman was standing outside when someone shot her in the shoulder. She was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition.
Monday
- At 12:02 a.m. in the 7500 block of South Aberdeen, a gunman approached a 26-year-old woman and shot her in the leg and wrist. She was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
