Chicago Weather: Heat, Humidity; Severe Storm Potential Approaching

CHICAGO (CBS)-- Heat and humidity continue Monday and much of the area is at risk of severe storms later today.

Monday's high temperatures will be in the low 90s with a sight chance for showers earlier in the day. The best chance for storms develops this afternoon as a cold front approaches. Storms could begin firing mid afternoon.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7 p.m.

There is a moderate chance of severe storms and the Chicago area could reach severe levels with damaging winds Monday night. There is a higher tornado risk as well as chances for hail and heavy downpours and flooding.

The cold front will bring more comfortable conditions on Tuesday with temperatures in the mid 80s.

Temperatures will stay in the upper 80s for the rest of the week with rain chances returning this weekend.
