Several Warm Days Ahead, With Rain Likely Midweek
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A warm, wet week is ahead for the Chicago area, with thunderstorms possible midweek.
Monday should be dry for the most part, although some showers could come and go in the afternoon. Temperatures should linger in the upper 50s all day.
Tuesday will be the warmest day of the week, with a high near 65, but Tuesday night will also bring the start of a storm system that could produce heavy rain and occasional thunderstorms through Wednesday night.
According to the National Weather Service, much of the Chicago area could get about 1.5 inches of rain through Thursday, with the northern suburbs seeing about an inch, and amounts closer to 2 inches in central Illinois.
Temperatures on Wednesday and Thursday will be a bit cooler, though still milder than average, with highs in the low to mid 50s. The average high temperature for this time of year in Chicago is about 43.
A chance for rain returns on Saturday and Sunday, so St. Patrick's Day weekend celebrations could be a bit damp in Chicago.
