Chicago To Flirt With 80s On Friday; Cooler Weekend, And Rain Saturday

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Temperatures have been soaring across Chicago all morning, and could reach a high of around 80 by Friday afternoon, but more rain is in store this weekend before we get to Mother's Day.

The official temperature in Chicago shortly before 10 a.m. was 63 degrees, nearly 20 degrees warmer than it was at midnight, when it was about 45 degrees.

Temperatures could reach the 80s in parts of the Chicago area on Friday, though it will be slightly cooler by the lake.

This weekend will be a bit cooler, as well, with highs in the upper 60s on Saturday and Sunday.

There also is a chance for a thunderstorm on Saturday, but skies should be clear for most of Mother's Day, before more showers could move in Sunday night.

Next week could be a wet one, with chances for rain most of the day Monday, and a possible thunderstorm on Tuesday. Wednesday has only a slight chance of showers, but rain is more likely again at the end of the week.

The good news is next week's temperatures should be much better than this week, with highs in the mid 60s all week, and lows in the mid to upper 50s at night.
