Chicago State Students On Alert After Coed Is Attacked Near Campus

(CBS) – In Roseland, students at Chicago State University are on alert.

A young, pregnant woman was sexually assaulted and forced into the trunk of her car at knife-point, just blocks from campus.

CBS 2's Dorothy Tucker reports students trying to protect themselves.

Chicago state officials were passing out flyers Thursday, detailing the sexual attack of student just steps from the campus.

The victim's father says his daughter was visiting a relative near 98th and Indiana on her lunch break. Shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, she opened the truck of her car to get her books when the suspect kidnapped her.

He drove her to an alley, and assaulted her before putting the victim in the trunk. The 24-year-0ld student escaped the vehicle by popping the inside of the truck.

On campus, students were reminded of security escorts and shuttle buses available to take them to their cars off campus.
