3 Killed, 12 Wounded In Thursday Shootings Across Chicago

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three people were killed and at least 12 others were wounded in shootings Thursday across Chicago, police said.

The latest fatal shooting happened in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

Officers were called to the 4700 block of West Huron about 11:50 p.m. where they found the man — thought to be in his 20s — lying on the sidewalk, police said. He was shot in the head and was dead at the scene.

Further details were not available early Friday.

Two male victims, both between 16 and 21, were standing in the 3400 block of West Chicago about 3:30 p.m. when gunmen dressed in black ran up and opened fire, according to police. The shooters then ran away.

Both victims suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were taken to Stroger Hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other was listed in critical condition, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office did not immediately confirm the fatality.

Early Thursday, a 30-year-old man was shot to death in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

Marvin Lee was inside Murphy's Lounge in the 7600 block of South Cottage Grove when he got into an argument with two other men. The argument spilled out onto the street, and one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Lee in the head, authorities said

Lee, of the 6100 block of South Michigan Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:52 a.m.

The most recent nonfatal shooting happened about 6:45 p.m. in Little Village on the Southwest Side.

A 16-year-old boy had just gotten out of a vehicle in the 3400 block of West 30th Street when a van pulled up and someone inside opened fire, striking the boy in the right thigh, police said. He was driven to Saint Anthony Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.

Shortly after 1 p.m., two men were injured, one critically, in a shooting at a KFC drive-thru on the Near West Side. They were inside a vehicle in the 1100 block of South Western Avenue when multiple shooters walked up and fired shots, police said. A 24-year-old man was shot in the collarbone and thigh, and a 26-year-old man was shot in the abdomen and forearm, police said. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where the older man was listed in critical condition and the younger man's condition was stabilized. The shooters sped away from the scene in a vehicle.

About an hour earlier, a man was shot in the Riverdale neighborhood on the Far South Side. The 18-year-old was in the 13000 block of South Drexel at 12:05 p.m. when he "heard shots and felt pain," police said. He was shot in the lower right leg and was taken in good condition to Roseland Community Hospital.

Thursday morning, a 22-year-old man was critically injured in a South Side Englewood neighborhood shooting. He was walking at 8:41 a.m. in the 6600 block of South Peoria when a male approached and opened fire, striking him several times in the chest, police said. The man was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

About 2:10 a.m., five people were shot while exiting a party bus in the South Shore neighborhood's 2200 block of East 70th Place, police said. A 29-year-old man was shot in the right leg and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. A 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the right hand and a 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the right foot were taken to Jackson Park Hospital. Another 22-year-old man was shot in the left leg and chest and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. All of their conditions were stabilized, along with that of a 30-year-old man shot in the right arm, according to police.

Thursday's first shooting happened about midnight, when a man walked into a Holy Cross Hospital and told investigators he was shot in the West Englewood neighborhood. The 22-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was listed in good condition. He told investigators he had been shot in the 6900 block of South Damen, but no crime scene was located there, police said.
