Chicago shooting: 1 killed, 5 others injured in Roseland

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people are dead and three others are injured following a shooting at a Father's Day gathering on Chicago's South Side Sunday evening.

The shooting took place just before 8 p.m. in the 1100 block of South Princeton, Chicago Police said.

A 37-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene with a gunshot wound to the head. A 33-year-old man was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the neck, where he was also pronounced dead.

A 27-year-old man was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the buttocks and left shoulder. A 25-year-old man was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the torso. And a 19-year-old man was transported to Christ in fair condition with gunshot wounds to both legs.

Some residents told CBS 2 the gunshots came from a passing car that was driving by Smith Park. There was a barbecue happening at the park at the time. It is unclear if those people were the target or if this was a random shooting.

Police say they are searching for a gray Honda sedan.

One of the residents described what he heard from a relative who lives on the block.

"My cousin said that she heard 15 to 16 shots," Michael Henry said. "A car just pulled up and starting shooting, and then I think it's like 20 or more shots and everybody was ducking and stuff like that."

No one is in custody as detectives investigate.
