Chicago shooting: 2 injured when off-duty cop's gun goes off in River North hotel room
CHICAGO (CBS) -- No one is facing charges after a police officer from Michigan accidentally shot himself and another man at a downtown Chicago hotel.
Police say around 3:10 p.m., the 23-year-old off-duty officer was handling a gun inside a room at Hotel Chicago on Dearborn.
The gun went off, striking a 25-year-old man in the stomach.
The officer was also struck in his hand.
Both man were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition.
Fire officials tell CBS 2 the police officer is from the Grand Rapids area.
The incident is being investigated as an accidental discharge. Area Three detectives are investigating.
