Chicago Police Officers Rescue Two From Burning Car
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Four Chicago police officers rescued two people trapped in a car after a fiery crash early Sunday.
The accident occurred around 2 a.m. Sunday in the 7600 block of South Loomis.
Police say the car crashed into several parked cars. Witnesses say it then caught fire.
One person who lives nearby says he and his wife had just noticed the danger when they saw the officers jump into action.
"That car was on fire," said Chris Colin. "It was going to explode if no one had put it out. So I'm glad they arrived on the scene. I'm glad that they were trained to do their job well."
One person was able to make it out of the car on his own. Officers rescued two other men right before the car caught on fire. All three were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
