Chicago Firefighters Deliver Christmas Gifts To Kids In Hospital
CHICAGO (CBS) -- They say it's better to give than to receive, something Chicago firefighters know all too well.
This week, many of them are playing Santa for families who can use a little extra Christmas cheer.
CBS 2's Chris Martinez reports if somewhere Santa has a helper, a go-to guy deep behind the scenes, chances are he looks a bit like Rich Pinskey.
For more than a decade now, at just this time of year, he's a fixture at hospitals across the city with a mission.
Rich and fellow firefighters deliver Christmas to kids who otherwise - might miss it...
Every single delivery, no matter the age, is just as heart-warming as the one before.
Though it's the kids who get the presents, the real prize is something that can't be wrapped. It's what Rich calls that "warm fuzzy feeling" and today, there's plenty to go around.
Chicago Firefighters are delivering gifts to four hospitals this week and to do that, they've collected nearly $11,000 worth of toys.
