It's National Voter Registration Day

CHICAGO (CBS) — Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, and communities across the country are trying to get out the vote, including at Chicago's Daley Plaza, where the Cook County Clerk's Election Team is set up to people register to vote.

They are also signing people up to be election judges. The Cook County Clerk said they pride themselves in making this upcoming presidential general election safe and secure.

"In our democracy, voting is what our democracy is all about. And we want to encourage all residents to take advantage of the easy access to register to vote because your voice is only heard through voting," said Cook County Clerk Cedric Giles.

The clerk's office will be at Daley Plaza until 2:00 Tuesday afternoon. You can also register online at elections.il.gov
