Chicago Auto Show Gets Underway At McCormick Place

(CBS) -- The Chicago Auto Show begins its nine-day run today. WBBM's Bob Roberts had an advance look and says if speed is what you need, you'll find plenty of it.

Chevy is debuting a Camaro with a full track package for both V-6 and V-8 models. Todd Christensen is Chevy's product manager.

"Better handling, bigger brakes, more suspension capabilities for the guys that want to take it out to the track and do a little serious driving," Christensen said.

The result he says is a street legal V6 that also can deliver lap times comparable to older Camaro V8 models and a V8 that's faster.

"That's the whole goal. This is really, I hate to say entry level, but this is really for the person who needs a daily driver but wants to have some serious fun on the weekend. This is a perfect car for him."

It's difficult to miss: lime green with a stained black hood, front splitter and unique three piece rear spoiler.
Chevy has yet to set a price for 1LE package, available this fall.
