Chicago Area Mother Shot On Wisconsin Interstate
(CBS) – A serial shooting suspect injured a Chicago area woman while she and her family were driving home from the Wisconsin Dells over the weekend.
The man who opened fire on Tracy Czaczkowski's vehicle Sunday was already wanted for shooting and killing a man earlier that day, the Sauk County Sheriff's Office said.
Czaczkowski's husband was driving their family, including two young children, home from Dells on Interstate 90/94 when the suspect passed in a Chervolet Blazer, rolled down his window and fired three rounds at the other vehicle, police said.
The gunman eventually was shot by police on I-90/94, an encounter caught on video.
Czaczkowski, 44, was hit in the neck. A family friend says she was on life support Monday.
Authorities in Wisconsin believe the shooting of the family's car was random.
The suspect was linked to the fatal shooting of a 42-year-old man in West Allis.
The unidentified suspect was hospitalized Monday.
