Cell Phone Tracking Helps Police To Find Escaped Lake County Inmate In Texas

(CBS) -- A Lake County Indiana jail escapee and his girlfriend await extradition from Texas after being recaptured by police in San Antonio.
Sheriff John Buncich says 22-year-old Richard Campos was wanted on five warrants and never should have been classified as a detainee allowed to work on a laundry detail outside of the jail.
"Flags should have went up and unfortunately they did not go up," he said.
Three guards will lose their jobs because of that.
Police tracked Campos and girlfriend Elysia Jeronimo to a T-Mobile store in Calumet City where they bought a phone. Authorities then tracked the couple using the phone's GPS to Texas, where Campos allegedly tried to escape San Antonio police.
