Celebrating Teachers Appreciation Week

Thank You Teachers: Chris Cassidy, Steve Skoufes

CHICAGO (CBS)-- CBS 2 is celebrating some of the incredible local educators during Teachers Appreciation Week. We asked students about their favorite teachers. 

Chris Cassidy is a teacher at John Hersey High School. His students say he helps them understand a hard subject like chemistry and makes it enjoyable.

Steve Skoufes teaches at Elk Grove High School. His student Ramon Steve has worked tirelessly to keep him safe. Ramon says he's done a wonderful job creating a happier place to learn.

Teachers Appreciation Week: Mrs. Mantzoukis, Mrs. Clancy

Mrs. Mantzoukis is a second-grade teacher at Kilmer Elementary School in Buffalo Grove. Her student Avery says she is her favorite because she gives really fun lessons and she has fun parties

Student Romeo gave a special message to Mrs. Clancy at Eugene Field School in Wheeling. Romeo tells CBS 2 she is organized and their classroom is clean. He says Mrs. Clancy is awesome.

Ashley Kaufman is a first-grade teacher at Kipling Elementary School. She is passionate about her role as an educator. Ms. Kaufman makes learning fun and engaging.

And Sophia from Jack London middle school says Mrs. Carpenter is her favorite teacher because she always answers any questions that students have and even gives opportunities to fix mistakes on work.

Teachers Appreciation Week: Ms. Patrick, Mr. Verschoore

Ms. Lehman is a Kindergarten teacher at Madison Elementary School. She loves crafts and always works to make her students smile. She was even given a "Best Friend" necklace by one of her students. Another amazing local teacher is Ms. Schmidt, a fourth-grade teacher at Walden Elementary School. Ms. Schmidt supports her students by attending performances outside of school. They are making a difference in their communities. 

Tyler Patrick is a second-grade teacher at Woodlawn Community Elementary School. Her students showed her some love this week with gifts. Her school is lucky to have her. 

Mr. Verschoore is a 6th grade teacher at Jack London Middle School in Wheeling. Students like Mason say they love talking with him and playing games like Khahoot and March Mammal Madness.
