Catholic Charities Closing Two Family Shelters, Two Child Development Centers
(CBS) -- The Archdiocese of Chicago is closing two family shelters and two child development centers, according to the Archdiocese.
The locations are St. Francis De Paula Interim Housing at 7811 S. Ellis, Our Lady of Solace at 6212 S. Sangamon, Grace Mission Child Development Center at 5332 S. Western Avenue and St. Aloysius Child Development Center at 1510 N. Claremont.
The locations will be open until June 30. Kristine Kappel, director of communications for Catholic Charities says they are closing the locations due to uncertainty around funding, including government funding and private donations.
"Unfortunately some families are impacted by it but we are working closely with the city to find safe, supportive learning and living environments for the children and for the families," Kappel said.
Kappel says that every year they do an analysis on the funding of more than 160 locations in Cook and Lake counties and this year decided that the four locations needed to close.
