Carmelo Anthony To Have Knee Surgery, Expected To Be Out For Season

NEW YORK (AP) -- A person with knowledge of the plan says that New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony will have surgery on his left knee.

Anthony has had pain for most of the season but continued to play despite the Knicks' league-worst 10-43 record and was able to play in Sunday's All-Star game at Madison Square Garden.

No date has been set for the operation, the person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team planned to announce the news later Wednesday.

Anthony is averaging 24.2 points and 6.6 rebounds this season.
