Cardinals Are Now Allowing 'Try Not To Suck' Shirts At Busch Stadium

(CBS) After Cubs T-shirts bearing manager Joe Maddon's slogan of "Try not to suck" created a stir at Busch Stadium earlier this season, the Cardinals have softened their stance in this mini-drama.

In the second series between the rivals, those shirts were allowed to be worn at Busch Stadium on Monday night, the Chicago Tribune reported, as the Cardinals defeated the Cubs, 4-3. Back in April, word reached Maddon that some fans sporting the "Try not to suck" T-shirts were denied entry, at least initially, to Busch Stadium by ushers, who deemed them profane. The "Try not to suck" T-shirts certainly fall in that category, as they're the brainchild of Maddon and support his Respect 90 charity foundation with the proceeds of their sales.

"Our event staff will exercise a degree of discretion in interpreting the context of the use of the word," Cardinals spokesperson Ron Watermon told the Tribune. "The shirts that Joe Maddon had made to benefit charity that say 'Try not to suck' will be allowed under the new approach."
