Car Crashes Into Building In Englewood, One Hurt And The Driver Fled The Scene

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A crashed ended with a car striking a building in the Englewood neighborhood early Thursday morning.

According to the Chicago Fire Department, the incident took place in the 1200 block of West 63rd Street around 4:30 a.m.

Officials said 63rd Street was shut down at Racine and 63rd buses were temporarily rerouted as crews work to clear the scene.

Chicago Police said a Chevy Malibu, driving southbound on Racine, hit the driver side of a Toyota vehicle driving eastbound on 63rd Street.

Police said one woman in the Toyota was hurt. Whoever was in the Chevy took off after the crash.

Investigators spent the morning at the crash scene, trying to reconstruct what happened.

There will also likely be concern about the structural condition of the building.
