Car Crashes Into Blue Island Apartment Building
(CBS) -- A family in south suburban Blue Island got a rude awakening for Mother's Day when a car crashed straight into their apartment near 119th and Longwood Drive.
Yvonne Garcia says she heard a loud crash just before 5 a.m. Of course, as a mom her first worry was for her son. She was afraid he might have been hurt.
"I knew something hit it, but I wasn't sure what it was," Garcia said. "I thought maybe the ceiling fell in my son's room so I was scared and that is when my son called me, then I knew he was alright."
The family spent the morning cleaning up a lot of debris in their living room, but everyone is ok. Garcia says even the driver was up and walking after the crash.
