Businesses Fear Unruly Crowds After Game 7
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Businesses near Wrigley Field, and beyond, are wondering how crowds will react after Game 7 of the World Series.
When the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2013, Wrigleyville was the place to celebrate.
And crowds spread that celebration and pushed south toward Lincoln Park, WBBM's Steve Miller reports.
"It was too crowded," said A.K. Khan, Lincoln Park business owner. "People were crazy, drunk. And they did very terrible things."
Terrible things, such as smash windows.
A.K. Khan is the co-owner of Lakeview Smoke Shop in the 2600 block of North Clark.
"They smashed the whole front window, the big front window," Khan said. "And then took whatever they can. They took it from the window."
Khan said it all cost him more than $5,000.
And he wasn't alone.
Celebrating Blackhawks crowds broke the windows of more than two dozen businesses in Lincoln Park.
Khan said he will be keeping his shop open later than usual this evening and will be leaving the lights on, in case the Cubs crowds get unruly.
