At least 4 business burglaries reported across the city; cash registers and a safe stolen

CHICAGO (CBS)-- Police are investigating four burglaries that happened overnight, each with similar circumstances.

Police said between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m., two to four men smashed through the front doors of four smoke shops using a sledgehammer. They would then run off with cash registers, merchandise including tobacco and cannabis paraphernalia, and, in one case, a safe.

The burglaries happened at the following times and locations:

  • 5600 block of West Roosevelt Road on Sept. 12 at 11:02 p.m.
  • 600 block of West Roosevelt Road on Sept. 13, at 12:55 a.m.
  • 2400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue on Sept. 13, at 1:30 a.m.
  • 4800 block of West Foster Avenue on Sept. 13, at 2:15 a.m.

The thieves were described as wearing all dark clothing, blue backpacks, and blue face masks. They were last seen driving a white Kia SUV.

So far, no one has been arrested.
