Business Booming For Indiana Fireworks Stores Ahead Of Fourth Of July
(CBS) -- Fireworks stores in northwest Indiana are doing brisk business as the Fourth of July approaches.
Some have added staff to deal with the crowds and a lot of the cars in the parking lots are from Illinois.
WBBM stopped into Krazy Kaplan's flagship store at Cline Avenue and 80-94 in Hammond.
Owner Greg Kaplan said they have 1,500 shopping carts and at times they'll be in short supply.
During WBBM's late morning visit the crowds weren't too crazy, but the row of port-a-potties in the parking lot suggest the next couple days will be a little crazy at Krazy Kaplans.
We talked to a couple Illinois residents who were stocking up for backyard fireworks displays, and spending quite a bit of money.
One man said all his neighbors chip in and they throw a big barbecue on the fourth that ends with a fireworks display.
