Burglars stole safes, registers from North, Northwest Side Chicago businesses, police say

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police on Friday asked for help from the public in finding the thieves who stole safes and cash registers from businesses on the North and Northwest sides.

All the burglaries happened early Thursday morning. In each, the thieves showed up in a black sedan, broke into the businesses, took the safes and cash registers, and left, police said.

The incidents happened at the following times and locations Thursday morning:

  • 1:33 a.m., in the 4300 block of West Addison Street, Irving Park.
  • 2:36 a.m. in the 2600 block of West North Avenue, Humboldt Park.
  • 5:15 a.m. in the 2500 block of North Clark Street, Lincoln Park.
  • 5:41 a.m. in the 3800 block of North Clark Street, Lakeview/Wrigleyville.
  • 6:18 a.m. in the 4700 block of North Kedzie Avenue, Albany Park. Police listed this block twice.

There were two to four thieves involved, police said.
