Bulls Sign Mike James, Lou Amundson

(CBS) The Bulls have signed guard Mike James and forward Lou Amundson for the remainder of the season, the team announced Thursday.

The moves were made to provide Chicago with more depth as the postseason nears. It would take unforseen circumstances -- an injury to a regular, for example -- for either to crack the rotation, which coach Tom Thibodeau has said is "pretty much set" at this point of the year. The Bulls have four games left before the playoffs start. They're tied with the Raptors for the third seed in the East at 46-32.

The 38-year-old James appeared in 11 games for the Bulls earlier this season, averaging 1.0 points in 7.0 minutes. The 6-foot-9 Amundson appeared in 18 games for New Orleans earlier this season, averaging 2.1 points and 3.1 rebounds in 10.2 minutes per game.

The Bulls host the Pistons on Friday night at the United Center.
