Buffalo Grove Teen Dies After Holding Onto SUV And Skateboarding

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say a 17-year-old who was trying to hold onto a moving SUV while skateboarding in suburban Chicago was struck by the vehicle and died.

Arlington Heights police say authorities were called around 7 p.m. Saturday to reports of a traffic collision with injuries.

The teen had severe head injuries and was taken to a hospital. He was pronounced dead hours later.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the teenager as Levi Matsuda of Buffalo Grove. He was an incoming senior at Buffalo Grove High School.

Police say he was holding onto the driver's side of a 2015 Honda Pilot. He either let go or lost his grip and fell. Police say the driver was a juvenile who stayed at the site to cooperate with police.
