Brandon Marshall Blasts ESPN On Twitter, Says Network Lied To Him About Profile

(CBS) -- Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall took to Twitter to blast ESPN as the network aired a profile story of him Tuesday evening that focused in part on past accusations of domestic violence. Marshall insinuated that ESPN misled him about what the interview would be about.

The receiver said ESPN "lied to me once again to get my interview" and that reporter Lisa Salters misled him on the nature of her interview.

The profile was an E:60 special that was all-encompassing, not just directed toward Marshall's past domestic violence accusations. It largely portrayed him as a man who has fought hard and turned his life around while battling mental health problems.

Marshall tweeted that the story stemmed from ESPN following him around two years ago at a camp and community weekend that he partook in, but he apparently wanted more of a focus on that and less on the negative accusations. The original E:60 profile of Marshall aired back in 2012 and focused on his history with domestic violence problems and his mental health advocacy. This new piece used some of the previous profile of Marshall.

Marshall also said this is the second time that ESPN "did this."
