Boy Struck, Critically Injured By Metra Train On Far South Side
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A boy was struck and critically injured by a Metra Electric District train Tuesday morning on the Far South Side.
The pedestrian was struck by a train near the Kensington station at 115th and Front streets about 8:30 a.m., according to Metra and fire officials.
The teenage boy, whose exact age wasn't available, was taken in "very critical" condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to Chicago Fire Dept. Cmdr. Curtis Hudson. Police said the victim was taken to Stroger.
All train movement on the Metra Electric District was temporarily halted, but normal service resumed just before 11 a.m., according to the transit agency.
