Police Rush To Auburn Gresham After Boy, 9, Is Grazed By Bullet In Car

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 9-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet Monday afternoon when shots were fired into a vehicle.

Police were called at 1:56 p.m. to the 8500 block of South Givins Court. They said the boy was in a car when another vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots.

Police had first been called for a ShotSpotter alert in the 7900 block of South Wentworth Avenue more than a mile away, and then got a 911 call of a person shot at the Givens Court location. Police do not know where the crime actually happened.

The boy suffered a graze wound to his ear and was taken to the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital in good condition, police said.

No one was in custody in the shooting as of late Monday afternoon.
