Boy, 17, Killed In East Garfield Park Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 17-year-old boy was fatally shot early Sunday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The teenager was standing with a group of people in the 3100 block of West Polk Street about 12:05 a.m. when he was shot, police said.

The boy, identified as Brandon Peterson of the 3000 block of West Polk Street, suffered gunshot wounds to the head and lower left leg, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 12:26 a.m., the medical examiner's office said.
