Boy, 14, Charged With Attempted Robbery, Battery In Batavia

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 14-year-old boy was charged with attempting to rob another juvenile Thursday in west suburban Batavia.

Officers were called at 9:26 p.m. to a McDonald's at 125 W. Wilson St. for a report of a fight in the parking lot, according to Batavia police.

Officers were told by a witness that a boy in dark clothing was fighting with another boy, police said. The boy in dark clothing produced a handgun that the witness believed was a pellet gun, and got inside the vehicle and struck the other boy several times. The offender left the area on foot and the vehicle drove away.

The offender was found nearby and identified as the 14-year-old, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The 14-year-old was charged with felony counts of attempted armed robbery, aggravated battery and aggravated assault, police said.
