Bonnie Liltz Released On Bond During Appeal
(CBS) -- A judge sentenced Bonnie Liltz to four years behind bars, for killing her daughter. Now, after just two months, she's out.
But she still faces tough legal and medical fights.
Next to her sister and mother, Liltz left Logan Correctional Center in downstate Lincoln on Friday.
"Yes, I'm happy to be going home," she said.
The reality is, though, Bonnie Liltz could wind up back in prison.
She killed her profoundly disabled daughter, saying she feared she would soon lose her battle with cancer and wanting Courtney to be with her in heaven.
A judge sentenced her to four years earlier this year. Bonding out Friday during her appeal, the frail 84-pound woman acknowledged her medical struggles.
Her defense attorney says she wants to get settled back home and get her medical issues addressed.
Liltz also has severe digestive issues that worsened in prison.
