Bolingbrook Police Pension Board To Vote If Drew Peterson Can Keep Pension

CHICAGO (CBS) -- The Bolingbrook Police Pension Board was meeting Friday to determine whether to revoke the pension of former police sergeant and convicted killer Drew Peterson.

The five-member board must find a fairly narrow set of circumstances occurred in order to revoke Peterson's $79,000 annual pension: did he use his police skills when he killed his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

Prosecutors raised that possibility at Peterson's murder trial. Savio was drowned in her bathtub in 2004.

Peterson retired three years later, under investigation for Savio's murder, and for the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy, who has long been presumed dead.

An informant who helped get Peterson charged with attempting to hire a hitman to kill Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow – who led the prosecution team that convicted Peterson – said Peterson claimed he dumped Stacy's body in Lake Michigan.

Peterson has appealed his 2012 conviction for murder. He is serving a 38-year sentence for Savio's death.

Peterson's son has been using his pension money to raise his younger children.
