Bogan, Hyde Park, Uplift Barred From Prep Basketball Playoffs After Violating IHSA Rules
(CBS) Three Chicago high school boys' basketball teams will have to watch the IHSA playoffs from home after violating Illinois High School Association rules.
Bogan, Hyde Park and Uplift have all been barred from the postseason tournament after playing in too many games or tournaments, the IHSA announced Monday. Each team had high expectations for the postseason, as Hyde Park had made the Chicago Public League tournament semifinals, Uplift won the Red North and Bogan was ranked No. 8 by the Tribune.
Hyde Park and Bogan each played more games than IHSA by-laws allow, while Uplift played in four tournaments, which is one too many.
"These situations don't occur very often, but it is always disappointing when they do," IHSA executive director Marty Hickman said. "The season limitations are longstanding IHSA rules that are necessary to maintain competitive balance."
