Body Found Near Metra Tracks In Highland Park

CHICAGO (CBS)-- A body was discovered by Metra train tracks in Highland Park, according to a Metra spokesperson.

A Metra Spokesperson said the UP North Line is back in service and running.

Officials said a 60-year-old female was hit by a UP North Line train around 5 p.m. This is not the same train that found the body on scene,

Inbound and outbound trains were halted on the Union Pacific North Line as officials respond to this incident. Metra is warning of extensive delays and recommends seeking alternate transportation if possible.

Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering tweeted about the "heartbreaking" incident and offered support to the victim's family.
