Metra BNSF Railway Service Restored After Two Killed By Train

CHICAGO (CBS) — Service on Metra's BNSF Railway was back to normal Friday morning, although with some minor delays, the morning after a train struck and killed two people in the Little Village neighborhood.

Metra originally said it would be operating on a reduced schedule for the morning rush, because several crews were unable to get enough rest after several trains were delayed Thursday evening when a train struck and killed a man and a woman on a set of elevated tracks near 21st Street and Homan Avenue shortly before 5 p.m.

However, by early Friday morning, Metra said all trains would run as normal for the morning rush, though minor delays were anticipated.

Seven trains, all outbound, were canceled Thursday evening, and trains in both directions were stopped for nearly two hours.
