Blagojevich Fundraiser Tony Rezko Released From Federal Custody
(CBS) -- The former top fundraiser for imprisoned former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich has left a halfway house a free man, after spending nearly a decade in federal custody.
An attorney for Antoin "Tony" Rezko confirmed his client was released Thursday and was looking forward to being reunited with his family.
The once-influential Rezko was convicted in 2008 of fraud, money laundering and plotting to squeeze more than $7 million from companies seeking to do state business during Blagojevich's time in office.
Blagojevich was convicted on federal corruption charges and is serving a 14-year sentence.
