Blackhawks Winger Kris Versteeg Remains On Track To Return Next Week
(CBS) Blackhawks winger Kris Versteeg remains on course to return from injury sometime early on Chicago's eight-game homestand that begins Monday, according to Sun-Times beat writer Mark Lazerus.
Versteeg has been out since suffering a metacarpal fracture in his left hand when hit by a puck on Jan. 1 against the Capitals. On Thursday, he was on the ice practicing with his teammates in a non-contact jersey, CSN Chicago's Tracy Myers reported. Versteeg will remain on the road trip so he can practice with the team.
Chicago plays at Winnipeg on Friday and is at St. Louis on Sunday. Versteeg's return could be well-timed, as the Blackhawks have lost five of their last eight games.
On the season, Versteeg has nine goals and 18 assists.
In other news, Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith sat out Thursday's practice for rest.
