Blackhawks Will Start Raanta As Crawford Is 'Day-To-Day'

(CBS) With top goalie Corey Crawford listed as day-to-day with an upper-body injury, the Blackhawks have recalled goaltender Ron Darling from Rockford of the AHL, they announced Tuesday. Antti Raanta will get the start tonight as the Blackhawks host the Flyers at the United Center, with Darling serving as the backup.

It will be Raanta's first appearance of the season.

Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville didn't anticipate Crawford's injury to keep him out long.

"Day-to-day, upper body," Quenneville said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "(Crawford) didn't feel great last night. It was bothering him and (Tuesday) morning it got a little worse. I don't think there was a defining blow."

Winger Kris Versteeg will likely make his season debut tonight as well after recovering from a lower-body injury, the Tribune reported. He could take Jeremy Morin's place in the lineup.
