CHICAGO (CBS) -- Blackhawks rookie winger Artemi Panarin will miss his first career game Tuesday night as he battles an undisclosed illness.
Tthe Blackhawks' second-leading scorer with 52 points (18 goals, 34 assists), Panarin has played in each of Chicago's 56 games this season. Teuvo Teravainen has taken his spot as second-line left wing, alongside center Artem Anisimov and right wing Patrick Kane. Coach Joel Quenneville revealed after morning skate Tuesday that Panarin's status was in question due to the illness.
The Blackhawks have seen several players deal with illness this season. Most recently, Jonathan Toews missed the All-Star Game due to an illness that affected him during the first-half finale in Carolina. When questioned whether team illnesses are of concern, Quenneville pointed to how the Blackhawks have recently completed a busy travel schedule.
Chicago and San Jose drop the puck at 7:30 p.m. CT at the United Center, with the Blackhawks looking to add to their Western Conference-leading 76 points.
