HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. (CBS) -- Smashing Pumpkins founder Billy Corgan said his mother-in-law will recover after being injured when a car plowed into his Highland Park teahouse this week.

A car crashed into Madame ZuZu's, at 1876 First St. in Highland Park, around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday. The red Mini Cooper was seen being towed away from the building after crashing through one of the front windows.

In an Instagram post on Corgan's verified account, his wife Chloe Mendel Corgan said her mother, Jenny, was injured in the crash while spending the day with the Corgans' son, Augustus.

Augustus was at the teahouse at the time of the crash too, but he was not injured.

On Thursday, Corgan posted a video to X, formerly Twitter, from the Brazilian capital of Brasília—where the Smashing Pumpkins played Friday evening. In the video, Corgan addressed the stressful events of the day before.

"First of all, thank you to our local responders—our first responders—for being there for my family in our hour of need. "Chloe's mom, Jenny—my mother-in-law—is OK. She's banged up, but she looks like she's going to be OK."

Police believe the crash was an accident, but Corgan said the investigation continues.

"So many people reached out to us yesterday, Chloe and I, and we're super grateful," Corgan said.

ZuZu's reopened Thursday.
