Looking to add an additional special, and furry, member to your family? Or for a way to support a local adoption site? A pet adoption event is a great way to find that perfect pet who can make you feel like your life is complete, and pet adoption events are also an excellent way to help out animal adoption groups as they depend heavily or solely on the generosity of others. There are many excellent pet adoption agencies in the Chicago area; here are five of the best upcoming pet adoption events in the vity. The adoption events may be highlighting animals available for adoption or raising money for their cause or a combination of both.

Come and meet your 4-legged soulmate just in time for Valentine's Day. ALIVE Rescue will have dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens available for adoption at The Little Barn, their adoption center. There will be light snacks provided as well as a puppy kissing booth.

PAWS Chicago, the city's largest No Kill humane organization, will host its 10th Annual Holiday Adopt-A-Thon. The PAWS Chicago Lincoln Park Adoption Center has extended its adoption hours for this special two-day adoption marathon in an effort to help homeless dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens find a home in time for the holidays. Its goal is to both save lives through adoption and raise awareness around the issue of pet overpopulation and the needless killing of homeless animals.

Chicago's hottest pets will be escorted down the runway by the local heroes of Chicago. Open bar, appetizers and entertainment will all be a part of the evening. Tickets are required for this event.

Homemade treats made by volunteers can be purchased at the shelter. All proceeds will be used to help the animals at the shelter. Tours of the shelter will also be given by shelter volunteers.
