Best Egg Dishes In Chicago
Au Cheval

Chicago, IL 60607

In French, 'au cheval' may mean 'on horseback,' but in the culinary world -- and at this West Loop restaurant by Brendan Sodikoff -- it's also slang for 'fried egg on top.' And that's exactly what you'll find in a number of dishes. For starters, for all the egg lovers out there, add a fried egg to your delicious burger (whether it's a single or double) and grab a side of crispy fries slathered in mornay sauce and topped with, you guessed it, a fried egg -- a truly amazing and delicious combo. But there's more than fried eggs here too; in fact, there's a whole section of the menu devoted to items 'with eggs.' If you come during brunch too, opt for the platter of chilaquiles (both good-sized portions even if you order the half-size). While there's no meat on this dish, you won't miss it with how delicious these eggs taste.
Deleece Restaurant
3747 N. Southport Ave.
Chicago, IL 60613
(773) 325-1710

This Lakeview restaurant is a great neighborhood place, whether you're looking for a good meal at brunch, lunch or dinner. But if you're looking for some of the best egg dishes, go for brunch (although the dinner menu does offer a fried egg when you order a steakhouse burger). At brunch, Deleece offers some traditional egg dishes -- like the straightforward steak and eggs -- as well as an array of other choices. The chilaquiles are hugely popular, as well as eggs benedict, which is made perfectly with a light hollandaise sauce. A corned beef hash made with eggs is also a great option.
Floriole Cafe & Bakery
1220 W. Webster Ave.
Chicago, IL 60614
(773) 883-1313
www.floriole.com
Best known for its bread and pastries, Floriole in Lincoln Park shouldn't be overlooked when it comes to its brunch dishes. One reason they're so tasty, naturally, is that many of the dishes -- like a breakfast sandwich -- are served on house-made breads. But another reason is because of the top-notch ingredients used, like organic flour and cage-free eggs. In addition to the sandwiches, Floriole's daily special is so popular that it often sells out, so get there early to grab a slice of quiche, of which there are often two flavor options (such as ham and cheddar or spinach and cheddar).

Milk & Honey
1920 W. Division St.
Chicago, IL 60622
(773) 395-9434

There are a lot of reasons to visit Milk & Honey in Wicker Park. Its granola is one, and its huevos rancheros -- priced at a reasonable $7.75, especially considering it comes in a huge dish -- is another. Made in a casserole style, the scrambled eggs are all mixed together with black beans, corn tortillas and topped with some melted cheddar and monterey jack cheese. Unfortunately, this stellar dish is only available Saturday and Sunday, so during the week, opt for the equally delicious breakfast burrito instead.
Over Easy Cafe
4943 N. Damen Ave.
Chicago, IL 60625
(773) 506-2605
www.overeasycafechicago.com
With a name like 'Over Easy,' you're guaranteed to have a few egg dishes on the menu. But even better, these are some of the best egg-based dishes in the city. This Lincoln Square/Ravenswood restaurant's most popular dish is its Sassy Eggs, which is made with two eggs that come with a chorizo-potato hash as well as a slew of other Mexican ingredients like guacamole and jalapenos. Ancho ketchup, cheddar cheese, sour cream and red peppers round out the dish. Another popular item is the Nueva Mexicana Omelet. That's not all though; Over Easy Cafe also offers different specialties -- including different eggs benedicts -- every week.
