Bennett On Brother Joining Bears: 'Ben Franklin Is Also Our Brother'
(CBS) Bears tight end Martellus Bennett has made it well known that he'd like his brother and Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett to join him as a teammate in Chicago. Coming off a breakthrough 8 1/2-sack season, Michael will hit the open market this offseason, and he's admitted he'd like to play with Martellus at some point in their careers.
In an interview with Fox 5 Good Day New York on Wednesday, Martellus again went about welcoming Michael to Chicago but cautioned his brother may have to do what's best for himself.
"That's the plan right now -- I'm working on him coming to play with me," Martellus said. "But I told him first, if the Seahawks reward him for his play, he deserves to stay there, and he deserves to get paid. At some point, we're brothers, but Benjamin Franklin is also our brother. So if he can get the benjies, (I'm like), 'Bro do what you got to do. If not, come on over here.' Our kids can grow up together. I'm having my first (child), and he has three."
Michael would be a welcome addition to the Bears defense, which was tied for second-to-last in the NFL in scoring defense.
