Bears-Patriots Fast Facts
(CBS) The Bears' season -- and, you could easily argue, the Marc Trestman era -- reached its low point Sunday with a 51-23 loss to the Patriots in New England.
It was unacceptable. There was blame to be spread everywhere. There was injury added to insult, insult added to injury.
Here are a few (ugly) fast facts and statistical notes from Sunday's blowout in Foxborough.
--- The 38 points that Chicago allowed in the game's opening 30 minutes were the most in franchise history allowed in a first half.
--- The Patriots scored 21 points in a 57-second stretch late in the second quarter to blow the game open. It was only the fourth time since the 1970 merger that a team had scored three touchdowns in less than a minute, according to the Tribune's Brad Biggs.
--- The 31 second-quarter points by the Patriots were the most the Bears had allowed in one frame since the Lions scored 34 in a quarter in September 2007, according to Comcast Sportsnet's Christopher Kamka.
--- The Patriots are now 25-1 at home in October since 2003.
--- Matt Forte had six receptions Sunday, bringing his season total to 58, the most by a running back in his team's first eight games in NFL history. Through Sunday night, Forte is second in the NFL in receptions, trailing only Pittsburgh's Antonio Brown (60).
--- Forte totaled 168 yards from scrimmage, bringing his season total to 1,052. Forte now has at least 1,000 total yards from scrimmage is each of his first seven NFL seasons, the only player in franchise history to accomplish the feat.
--- Bears quarterback Jay Cutler threw one interception and lost a fumble Sunday. He now has 12 turnovers this season, the second-most in the NFL. Only the Jaguars' Blake Bortles (13) has more turnovers.
