Amid criticism, Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron is focusing attention forward

Rome Odunze is confident in Bears’ passing game as they prepare to take on Rams

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) -- The honeymoon didn't last long for new Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.

After a 1-2 start, Waldron's playcalling is taking the blame for all-too-familiar stagnant scoring drives. But Waldron is tuning out the noise and going to work.

Waldron didn't offer much explanation when it came to the goal line debacle during the game the Bears lost to the Indianapolis Colts last weekend—saying he is not going to live in the past. But Waldron did compliment the Bears leadership group for how they responded this week.

That includes Marcedes Lewis, who had a message for Waldron.

"Just continue to be vocal about that he sees, and don't, you know, don't feel like you can't point guys out—because I want to be coached, I want to be great," Lewis said. "This is not for play. You know what I mean? This is our job. We understand that it's a high-production big business, and we all got to be doing the same things—or everybody gets fired. We want to win games just as bad as you do, and it's a collaborative effort. This is not Pop Warner."

Meanwhile, Rome Odunze was a positive for the offense this past Sunday, breaking out with six catches for 112 yards. He is confident the passing game can build off their second-half success.

"It's definitely repeatable, you know. I think it's just a comfortability, and a confidence going out there being in an attacking mindset toward the defense," said Odunze, "not, you know, waiting to see what they're going to give us and what they're going to try to limit us to do, but attacking them, and understanding that we're a step ahead of them."

The Los Angeles Rams on Sunday should be a defense the Bears can attack. Through three games, the Rams have allowed the most yards, and the second most points in the entire NFL.
