Bears Notes: Martellus Bennett Questionable For Sunday

(CBS) The Bears have ruled out offensive lineman Matt Slauson (chest), offensive lineman Eben Britton (illness) and linebacker Darryl Sharpton (hamstring) for Sunday night's game against the Packers at Lambeau Field, and they're still not certain whether they'll have tight end Martellus Bennett.

Bears coach Marc Trestman described the rib injury that Bennett suffered during Wednesday's practice as "awkward on the practice field." Bennett is officially listed as questionable for Sunday night.

"We'll see," Tresman said. "We really don't know right now. He's been inside today getting treatment and we're hopeful he can play. We'll see what happens."

Not having Bennett would be a huge blow to the Bears' passing attack. Through half the season, he leads the team in receiving first downs (26), is tied for the team lead in touchdowns (five) and is second in receiving yards (517). Bennett played last season with a separated shoulder and a torn MCL, so it seems difficult to envision him not giving it a go Sunday night.

As he walked out of the locker room, Bennett was asked if he would play on Sunday, to which he responded, "Probably -- maybe."

In other news, Trestman confirmed that Jordan Mills will remain at right tackle and Michael Ola will play left guard with Slauson out. Mills had been seeing some time at guard in practice earlier this week after struggling to handle opposing defensive ends one-on-one recently.
