Bears Coach John Fox: 'It Wasn't All Bad'
By Chris Emma—
(CBS) The final score from Sunday in Seattle stated Seahawks 26, Bears 0. It was one of those games in which little went right for the visitors.
Chicago had 10 possessions on offense and punted 10 times. The Bears also allowed 371 yards to the Seahawks and allowed a kickoff return for a touchdown for the second straight week. But Bears coach John Fox was trying to keep positive Monday, looking at the little details that his team got right.
"It wasn't all bad," Fox said.
In evaluating the Bears' loss, Fox admitted that the offensive game plan was conservative, with backup quarterback Jimmy Clausen leading the offense and going 9-of-17 for 63 yards thought the air. Fox declined to discuss the status of quarterback Jay Cutler (hamstring) and receiver Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) for Sunday's contest with Oakland.
Now moving past Sunday in Seattle, the Bears are looking for answers on offense. Sticking to his usual phrase, Fox pointed to his efforts of finding the best 11 guys to put on the field against the Raiders on Sunday at Soldier Field.
"We need to generate more than zero points to win games – there's no doubt," Fox said.
Fox is hoping the Bears can learn from their mistakes and attempt to improve as the season progresses on. Now 0-3, it will be an uphill climb to get back into the standings.
But Fox didn't make excuses for playing tough competition in Green Bay, Arizona and Seattle to open the season.
"There's no consolation," Fox said. "You go into every one of these games with the expectation to win."
