Bears Announce Preseason Schedule, With Opener Against Eagles

By Adam Hoge-

(CBS) — The Bears' preseason schedule was announced Wednesday and includes a trip to Seattle to face the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks.

The Bears will open the preseason at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. The date of the game hasn't been finalized, but it will take place between Aug. 7-10.

The Bears' second preseason game will also be at home as they will host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Aug. 14 in a nationally televised game on ESPN.

The third preseason game, in which the starters play the majority of the game, will take place in Seattle against the Seahawks between Aug. 21-24. With the Bears set to play the 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif. during the regular season, it's not surprising to see them test themselves with a west coast trip during the preseason. Last year, when the Bears played a preseason game in Oakland, head coach Marc Trestman said he wanted his players to experience the travel, despite not having a west coast game scheduled during the regular season. That experience could have been beneficial had they played a playoff game out west.

As usual, the Bears will close the preseason against the Browns, with the game in Cleveland this year. That game is set for either Aug. 28 or 29. The Bears and Browns have closed the preseason against each other every year since 2004, alternating home and away.
